Being first published in 1609, William Shakespeare’s sonnets are now more than 400 years old. And yet: their language still is of an arresting intensity and strength.

I recommend www.shakespeares-sonnets.com to read the sonnets along with descriptive commentary. I’m deeply grateful to the creators of this website as it has been a huge help ever since I started the project.
