Much Ado About Nothing

Shakespeare’s play in a version by Carola Söllner

A production of Brandenburger Theater

A glamorous manor house in Sicily, a sole heiress, a masked ball and wounded male honour: what more do you need for a fast-paced evening of comedy? Much Ado About Nothing is still one of Shakespeare’s most successful comedies, frequently adapted into films and a much-loved play on Europe’s theatre stages even after 400 years.

The verbal battles between Beatrice and Benedict, who desperately fight against their love, are both a challenge and a steep challenge for actors such as Benjamin Krüger and Elna Lindgens. They engage in a witty and sarcastic petty war with relish – Claudio and Hero bathe in their love pains with equal relish, and Don Pedro no longer knows who to believe: His dodgy brother John or the (un)guilty blushing Hero?

I wrote music for two of the songs in the play, the famous Sigh No More and Pardon, Goddess of the Night, as well as various scene music.
